The mission of Career Exploration Services (CES), a division of the Student Counseling Service, is to help Iowa State University students develop a Career Plan that is right for them.

A good Career Plan includes these 5 steps.

• Step 1: Explore Yourself
• Step 2: Explore Occupations
• Step 3: Explore Majors
• Step 4: Develop Transferable Skills, Consider Graduate School, Gain Experience in Your Career Field
• Step 5: Develop Your Self-Marketing and Job Search Skills

While each step is important, Career Exploration Services provides a wide variety of services so that you can successfully complete each step by using resources that match your preferred career planning style:

• The Career Exploration Services Library, for those who enjoy independent career exploration with the option of peer consultation from trained Career Library Assistants.

• Individual Career Counseling, for those who are interested in comprehensive career exploration, working one-on-one with a Career Exploration Expert.

• UST 104: Personal Career Development, for those who wish to earn class credit as they explore themselves and the world of work in an informal, hands-on classroom atmosphere.

Career Exploration Services also presents Career Planning Workshops for ISU classes and student organization meetings, and encourages faculty to Refer Students to our services.
